Healing and exploring creativity after stroke

About me

My name is Dharma. In one of the Swedish winters, I moved from Iran to Sweden. Before coming here, I ran a café in Iran and worked as a production manager at a film company.

After settling in Sweden, I studied cooking for two and a half years, which led to a successful career as a chef.

On the evening of April 19, 2021, my life took a surprising turn.
I was on my motorcycle, heading home from work, when I suffered a stroke.

The days following the incident are a bit of a blur—I lost most of my memory and could only remember the names of my parents and sister.

The stroke left me with some challenges, including movement issues on my right side and a temporary loss of speech.

But fast forward three years, and things have changed a lot! I now speak three languages, and I’ve started painting with my left hand.

It’s been an amazing journey, and through my art, I’ve found a new way to express myself. My paintings have become my voice, a way to show that even when life throws unexpected challenges our way, there’s always a way to move forward and find beauty.
